The Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary is a world wide society of consecrated women whose mission is to bring the compassion and love of the Heart of Christ to others through education, nursing, social work, pastoral work and counseling. The Sisters came to St. Jerome parish in 1955 to open and staff St. Jerome School. The Sisters ran the school very successfully for many years with great support from pastors, parents and parishioners and are proud to have such a long and fruitful association with St Jerome School and parish. They look forward to 2005 when the school celebrates 50 golden years of the education of children.

Having lived at St Jerome Convent for 46 years the Sisters moved in 2001 to a smaller house next door to the church. There are presently four Sisters living in the St Jerome community. These four sisters have, collectively, dedicated 158 years to Catholic school classroom teaching and teaching CCD classes after school. Since retirement, they have, collectively, devoted 35 years teaching CCD and family Faith Formation classes.

Sister Christine Hawkins, a retired Principal and classroom teacher at St. Anthony's School Atwater, California, directs the Family Faith Formation Program of St. Jerome Parish. She is also active in the social and liturgical life of the parish. Sister is also Chaplin of the local Serra Club chapter.
