St. Jerome Catholic School provides a student-centered environment stressing the development of the whole person. Parents are recognized as the primary educators and teachers as facilitators. The active participation of all parents at school in home study and in extracurricular activities is encouraged. Families are also required to provide volunteer hours each year.
Parent/Teacher Group
The Parent/Teacher Group (PTG) provides service to the school and coordinates all fundraising and social activities.
School Council
The St. Jerome Council's primary concern is the furthering of school goals and the intellectual and spiritual development of the students. By advising and assisting its executive officer, the Principal, and the Pastor, and hearing its many publics, the school board shall work to enable the school community, faculty, parents, and students to reach their agreed upon goals. The school board is responsible to the Pastor and the Principal
The Council consists of nine elected representatives of the school and an appointed representative from the parish along with the Principal, a faculty representative, and a P.T.G. representative. School Council meetings are open to all members of the Saint Jerome Catholic School community and are typically held on the fourth Thursday evening of the month. Each meeting has an open forum time for parents to present issues of concern. The meeting schedule is posted on the monthly school calendar.
Council members serve for a three year term and are expected to assist with all council activities and attend monthly Council meetings. Given all of our Council activities, and as stated in the Student-Parent Handbook, service on the Council fulfills your parent participation hours for the year.
The Council has embarked on a new and exciting strategic planning effort: implementation of the Catholic School Management (CSM) program. This strategic planning effort will assist us in establishing a consistent identity for our school and a plan for increasing enrollment for the future. Part of this process is to reach out beyond the School Council and involve other parents in our efforts. The Committees established under the CSM process include: Enrollment, Communications, Facility Safety, Endowment, and Annual Fund.
Each Council member serves as a liaison to each one of the classrooms and is available to assist that class's parents with questions about the school. The School Council also assists with our annual multicultural potluck.
We invite all St. Jerome Parents to attend our meetings and communicate with our School Council members.
